I got this tip from @TonyRobbins. Heard it on one of his videos. I added a few points of my own
If you really want lasting change, you have to give up this idea of ‘trying something’.
ex: trying to quit smoking, counting the days you have been off – this is all doing it too small.
It’s just dabbling in the change and its essentially saying you are not 100% sure you are going to stick with it or you are going to achieve the change.
For any change to REALLY last, you need to fully commit to it.
You need to master this change until it happens and you need to approach it big.
It has to be to the point that the change is fully integrated in you before it happens. You have to see the end result of what that change will be, to keep you excited for it, and keep you to stick to pursuing it, even when it might get tough.
Ex: you see yourself engaged in sports now that you aren’t smoking.
Your commitment to it needs to be solid. Much past the ‘trying it out’ level.
Your commitment level needs to be this: It needs to be absolutely unacceptable for you to go back to the way it was.
And that is how you must think about it, approach it, and take action on it.
